Maserati
presents the Quattroporte Automatic
12/18/2006
Modena
Maserati has enhanced the Quattroporte range
with a new version of its flagship model equipped with an automatic
gearbox.
The name Quattroporte Automatic hints at the main technical innovation:
the fact that the car is fitted with a hydraulic six-speed gearbox.
This places the emphasis on the fluidity of gear selection without
compromising swiftness, thus making gear changes smoother.
The all-new transmission system is married
to a different weight distribution (49% in the front and 51%
in the rear) that maintains
the Quattroporte's extremely sporty charateristics.
The new hydraulic transmission draws out
the progression of the Maserati V8 engine at low-medium revs
and does not limit its power.
The Quattroporte Automatic will be premiered
to the international press at the 2007 Detroit Motor Show and
go on worldwide sale from
January.
Presented in 2003, the Quattroporte immediately
came to the attention of the press and fans thanks to its elegant
design, content and technology that puts the accent on performance.
This combination has created a new segment in the market, that
of the 'luxury sport sedan'. The Trident vehicle leads a category
in which other prestigious marques are now featuring. Since 2003,
the Quattroporte has scooped 28 awards from the world press.
This global recognition is a tangible sign that the vehicle has
been appreciated by both the motoring world and the public alike.
