Drive to Italian Concours d’ Elegance

9:00 a.m. – Leave Vancouver – Highway 99 to Seattle… US border at Blaine. Then down I5 to Exit 250 – Highway 11 (old Fairhaven) – just south of Bellingham. Go west a few miles to ‘T’ intersection – turn right (north) on 12th street and three blocks to Harris street – turn left and you are in ‘downtown old Fairhaven’. Pit stop here.
11:00 a.m. – Late breakfast at one of any number of funky good eateries. Our favorite is Harris Avenue Café (1101 Harris) next door to Tony’s Coffee. Also worthwhile is Book Fare – upstairs in Village Books (1200 11th street) or the Colophon Café next door. http://www.fairhaven.com/. Western Washington University campus is only 10 minutes north of Fairhaven and worth a stroll through their grounds – lots of interesting outdoor sculpture and a few noteworthy buildings.
2:00 p.m. – Retrace your route back to I5 and head south for Seattle.
4:00 p.m. – Arrive at Des Moines and book into hotel or motel of your choice. Exit I5 at Mercer Street exit and stay in the region of the Space Needle, which is close to Magnuson Park’s Sandpoint Athletic fields venue for the next day.

Show runs from 11:00 to 4:00. Then a nice run north on I5 back to Vancouver.
