WEBER CONVERSION KIT INSTRUCTIONS, cont.
 |
12.) Test fit Webers on the manifold. You may need to file the bases to ensure a perfect fit. This is not a problem, a round file works very well.
13.) Install new manifold on the head without carburetors mounted. Fabricate a special boxed end wrench that is shaved thin and cut to approximately 3.5 inches in length (14mm) wrench. You will need this wrench for the nuts above the starter.
14.) Mount carburetors on manifold. Do not over-torque carburetor nuts! |
 |
15.) Connect linkage together using the threaded rod supplied to replace number 31. The linkage will go up to the manifold, not down. Connect fuel enrichment cable to carburetor choke linkage.
16.) You will need to plug off the fuel return line from the old pumps to the tank. The best place to do this is in the trunk where the line comes up through the floor. Remove the old fuel pumps and filter and install the new pump. Install a fuel regulator (set at 2.5 lbs) between frame mounted fuel delivery pipe and fuel tree going into the carburetors.
17.) Before starting, turn on pump and flow about 1/2 gallon of gas into clear bucket to ensure clean fuel lines. You may have to prime the fuel pump to get the gas to flow. Start up the engine and checkB for fuel, water and vacuum leaks.
18.) Tune the carburetors and go on a reliable, trouble free test run with your new Weber system. |

WEBER CONVERSION KIT FOR 3.5, 3.7 & 4.0 LITRE INLINE 6 CYLINDER CARS
INCLUDES:
Optional Carburetors
THE 40 DCOE CARBURETOR is a proven alternative to the more expensive 42 DCOE. We have installed this carburetor and found that it is as effective as the 42 DCOE. Our criteria for deciding to use this carburetor as an alternative is that the 40 DCOE is a much easier carburetor to tune and, of course, is more available.
The 42 DCOE CARBURETOR is the original equipment installed on the early 3500s. This is a more expensive carburetor than the 40 DCOE and should be considered only by those who are sticklers for authenticity. May take four to six weeks before shipping. Inquire for current prices.
3500 GT (right side) CAM COVER. . .
3500 GTI, Sebring and Mistral owners converting to Weber carburetors can now complete the conversion with a new right side Maserati logo cam cover (see photo), previously impossible to find! The GT cam cover eliminates the unsightly drive mount for the Lucas injection metering unit and gives the engine an original and clean look. Cast and carefully machined in Italy to exact original specifications, these hard to find cam covers are now available. Ask for part #47506.
Contact the Parts Department for additional information and pricing.
Conversion kits are sold on an exchange basis only or add a core exchange charge. Inquire.
An exchange consists of two high pressure Lucas fuel pumps, the metering unit and injection manifold, the air cleaner box and filter, the cold air box and hose.
