Photos -- Racing Cars
Text and Photos by Francis G. Mandarano or courtesy of the MIE Collection.
In the 1920s, Maserati made winning race cars, like the Tipo 26 and 26B, 26MM (for Mille Miglia). In the 1930s, the world saw winning sport and racing cars such as the Tipo 8C 2800, Tipo 8CM and the great pre-war race car, Tipo 4CL. Maserati won the Indianapolis 500 in 1939 and 1940 with Wilbur Shaw at the wheel of the powerful 8CTF. Pre-war cars are very collectible with higher prices for a car with a good history. These cars are usually owned by motoring museums or large collections, and seldom become available.
