MASERATI QUATTROPORTE, THE HISTORY
By Jurgen Lewandowski. To truly appreciate the fascination that the Quattroporte name holds, we have to take a step back to the glorious days of the early 1960s, when the magnificent Maserati Birdcage was launched and enthusiasts the world over were rejoicing at the arrival of the legendary 5000 GT. Then, in the autumn of 1963, the first ever Quattroporte was unveiled to the world at the Turin Motor Show. A leather and briarwood interior, pleasantly cooled by air-conditioning, proved the perfect foil for an engine capable of communicating the thrill of the race, in an irresistible hybrid of family saloon and track car.

And now a new generation Quattroporte is embracing that legendary heritage. A glance at the new Carrozzeria Pininfarina creation is enough to show that after 40 years of tradition, the Quattroporte will make its transition to the future with the greatest of ease. The same ingredients are there: elegant, attractive, understated looks, impeccable and classy interior, and a spirited V8 engine that is powering Maserati’s rebirth as a prestige marque par excellence.

RACING MASERATIS

By Giancarlo Reggiani. This book is a brief study of some of the most important Maserati racing cars ever built. It ranges from the pre-Second World War 6CM to the short-lived 420M “Eldorado” and the glorious 250F; from the legendary A6GCS that wrote pages of the company’s sports car racing history, to the 1992 Barchetta via the 150S and the 200SI. Here, we have brought together just a few important contributors to the outstanding sporting history of Maserati: an assembly that is the result of painstaking research into cars which, today, have been perfectly conserved or restored, and are, beyond question, in their completely original form. Priority has been given to spectacular color pictures of these magnificent machines in their current splendour, but without forgetting the need to show them in action with pictures from the past and, naturally, an accurate historical and technical description of all the cars featured here.   Ref. 155   $39.95
