April 29 - Social
Joan Colin Caroline and Andrew were the only attendees - so not much to write about.

Joan Colin Caroline (and Pirate) in the trusty 'family wagon' (read 1989 - 430); and Andrew Craig in our 1977 Merak SS (the gold one I had at CI in 2005 with the clutch master cylinder problems - since resolved). Met up in late afternoon in Sechelt with Andrew MacFadyen and his red 1989 Spyder i and all enjoyed a late lunch at Daphanes.
Pirate, Joan, and Caroline in the 430 waiting for the BC Ferry to arrive at Horseshoe Bay.

The Craig family in the 430 and Andrew Craig in his newly acquired red 1980 Merak SS - along for his first official event as an owner/driver and a chance to stretch the legs of the Merak. Clayburn Village Store and Tea Shop was closed for renovations so we dashed over the bridge to Mission and the White Spot for lunch.
Andrew and the 'new' Merak SS - lets see now - where the heck is the gas gauge on this thing!

Joan 'Fangio' Hendriks with her 430 - waiting at Earl's Restaurant parking lot - for the no-shows (again!).
The usual starting point - a Chevron gas station - at least we can still get 94 octane up here in Canada. Look at those prices for regular unleaded gasoline $1.196 per liter - ouch!
Heading east along Highway 1 - Fraser River on the left - nearing Hope and the Coast Mountains where we follow the Fraser Canyon route.

Aug. 16 - Pre-Maserati Days Social
Don and Sandi Treadwell hosted a wonderful Maser Event at their lovely house in Gilroy, CA. All the long-time Maserati types got a chance to show off their newly acquired current Coupes... Don and Sandi with their beautiful black Coupe CC; Gene and Vicki O’Gorman with his lovely silver Coupe CC; and John and Carol Asmus in their brand new blue Coupe CC. We showed up in the tried and true dark cobalt blue 1962 3500 GTi.

...or possibly Don's new Coupe. Yes, this feels just right Uncle Don!
Dinner with Maserati friends on a warm California evening - thank you Don and Sandi for a lovely event.
Sept. 2/3 - Italian Concours d'Elegance - Seattle
Colin, Joan, Caroline and Pirate in (what else) the old reliable 430; and Andrew in his Merak SS. Maserati turnout was pretty good; Kerry was there with his Ghibli coupe; an older 'original' 3500 GT; and a few other 228 and 430. Dan McCallum and his son were there from Vancouver with his 'Euro' 228. Frank and Janet took their Ferrari 360 Spyder for which we (sort of) forgive them. He had organized a group of Ferrari owners (and cars!) to meet up at 'downtown' Mercer Island and we all convoyed up I405 and then across the floating bridge crossing Lake Washington to the concours venue - lots of FUN! We stayed at the Mandarano's and all went out for dinner Saturday evening to a great Italian restaurant in downtown Bellevue called Ristorante Luciano - highly recommended.
Andrew doing some work on the 430 prior to leaving for Seattle.
Andrew with his Merak SS and the ever welcome Pennzoil 20-50W pint (litre).

Sept. 22/23/24 - Vineyard Run
Friday Sept. 22 - Well, the Americans showed up and everybody had FUN. Colin in the 1968 Quattroporte 1; Joan in the 430 (with Caroline and Pirate); and Andrew in his Merak SS - met up with the folks from 'down south' at Hedley, B.C. Then on to Keremeos and Osoyoos to check into the hotel. Dinner on Friday evening was at the Burrowing Owl Estate Winery; preceded by a navigators challenge rally on nighttime highways led by Colin trying to find that elusive turn-off. Finally got there; and the food and fellowship were wonderful. Interesting selection of sports cars - Frank and Janet in their 360 Spyder (can't quite say the 'F' word!); Gene and John in their newly acquired Coupe Cambiocorsas; and Larry Ruben in - wait for it - a Corvette convertible (bright yellow at that); and Tony Dowell in their lovely anthracite 228.

Andrew and the Merak at our Motel in Osoyoos - it was dog friendly (for Pirate) whereas the Hotel where everybody else stayed was not. Great location right on the shores of Osoyoos Lake.

Saturday Sept. 23 – lovely day touring Estate wineries; with good food; lovely people; great scenery - just a damn fine day to be alive.
Loading up the 430 on Saturday morning for a day of estate winery tours. Joan, Pirate, Caroline, and the 430.

All the cars picked up some 'rally mud' driving the last bit of gravel road into Blue Mountain Estate Winery with their sprinkler system operating in the adjacent vineyard.

Sunday Sept. 24 – great drive in the morning east from Osoyoos to Rock Creek; then north to Kelowna. Everybody was using the convoy buddy system to look out for each other and especially the tailend-Charlie (usually Tony Dowell). We pulled over to the side of the road when we saw Gene's car behind us do a sudden detour to the opposite shoulder - yikes! - new car computer problems; transmission problems; what?? – However, when Gene disappeared into the trees we knew it was a 'radiator' problem - soon solved! Met up at Okanagan Landing and the Grey Monk Estate winery - great food; wine; and a lovely terrace looking out over Okanagan Lake far below. Then back west through Kelown to Westside and lunch at the Quails Gate Estate Winery. Last stop at the nearby and spectacular Mission Hill Winery - then time to say goodbye as we all pursued different routes to home.

My thanks to Don Treadwell for encouraging the Bay Area Maseratisti to participate - it was a great experience - I should have passed out some honorary 'Furthest Traveled' awards to Gene and John! Don - look forward to seeing you participating in the 2007 Vineyard Run.

Oct. 21/22 - (Vancouver) Island Run

Just Colin, Joan, Caroline and Pirate in the 430 on this one. We love the Italian Bakery on Beacon Avenue (the main drag of downtown Sidney, B.C. - great place to have an Italian coffee and pastry and watch the passing parade. Also Sophies Cafe at Canoe Cove - one of those tucked away coastal boat building/repairing places with lots of real life ambience. Home of Canoe Cove Yachts - one of the old-line premium pleasure boat builders on this coast.
A stone's throw away - (yuck) is the Stonehouse Pub and Restaurant tucked away in the forest - and another very pleasant place to while away the time.
On the return trip up-island on Sunday we visited with Tony Dowell / Sandi Bruce (228).

Dec. 3 - Social

Dinner at Milo and Eva's - cancelled due to SNOW conditions.
